Hey guys, Here is the board for Seaside Serenity Zone which will be the first zone in our fictional Sonic CD 2 collaboration. The recurring theme will be Ocean Melody. I actually would like all arrangements to be unique from the original version I did. This means the Present arrangement for when Sonic first starts the zone can be CD Audio quality non chip remake of the original, our even having unique differences. It does not have to be 6 and a half minutes long like the original. 2 minutes, give our take a little is the average length of a PRESENT arrangement track. Although extended versions will be will enjoyed. Good Future, I have a disco upbeat style I want to try. Y'all are free to jump ahead of me of you like. I always enjoy hearing your ideas! :-) Since the last edit Tails did, I found a sample conversion method that is much higher quality than what I first used to extract the Palmtree Panic samples. Tonight, I swapped out the low quality samples with the full quality ones and tweaked some of the volume levels. Man, it sounds a LOT better now! I noticed that the sound was higher resolution when I was playing Palmtree Panic Past the other night. It sounded more clear than my past tune remix of Ocean Melody. It is in the Seaside Serenity folder, the WAV file, and the .it module file. The names have the word (enhanced) at the end. Compare both versions and let me know what y'all think. Much more clear sounding PAST music is in store! Here is quick link to the enhanced file: docs.google.com/file/d/0B2C16041iMhgY3BPU3h3ZW9zUk0/edit?usp=docslist_apiSent from my Prism II using Tapatalk

A side note, every one is welcome to use chip sounds inside the tracks, but the intent is for the total outcome to sound like professional studio quality music, so y'all can pull out all the stops... like an all gear battle on Battle of the Bits! Of course a chip remix of each arrangement is considered a nice addition, but not as the main goal.
Most of all with this project, chillax, and have fun!

I'm here! Sorry for the radio silence of a few days there. I'm going to make an attempt at the present tonight (read: right now!) I don't know how far I'll get, but there will definitely be a beta/alpha/something before the night's out! Edit: Holy COW does that cleaned up past version ever sound crisp. Niiiice! !!

Total coolness! Don't worry about the radio silence, we all have a life outside of the Little Planet... Most of us at least :-P Seriously, though, take your time, but I do look forward to hearing what you come up with. Also, check out my other updates on the Lunar Light, and Diluvian Desert boards. Answers to questions, and such. By the way, I ripped the Tidal Tempest samples and have a rough template for Diluvian Desert PAST arrangement I whipped up last night. Basically it's only 2 measures that loops 4 times, but it'll give you an idea of how out might sound. We have a light quota at work today, so I may have some time to work more on that and some saxophone coolness layer on. Aurevoir! Sent from my Prism II using Tapatalk

There we go! It's uploading now! I'm happy with a majority of it, but not my guitar leads. :S I think I'd rather have you play the lead in one of your own instruments that'd sound more Sonic CD-esque. Mine is very Sonic Adventure, and although Sonic Adventure had fun music, I dunno. xD I also played it rather badly. If you like it, though, that's good enough for me! I think some volumes need adjustment in it, too, and it's missing... 'something.' I'm not sure what that is, yet, and I'm 100% sure I screwed up some chords... but anyway! Let me know what you think, and if you wanna add anything, or if you want me to change stuff or anything. The BPM is 100, also! Edit: Ooh! Gonna jump over to those threads, and let you know what I think there!!

Gonna jump over to those threads, and let you know what I think there!! Wow! That was beautiful! It really paints a scenery, here. The accoustics and volume balance sounded fine to me. I would want to maybe add some vibraphone action, and maybe a few random voice samples or maybe crowd cheering or beach wave/sea gull sounds. Your assesment is pretty accurate. The guitar does make it sound kind of like Sonic Adventure style which is not necessarily bad. I think I will take you up on that offer, though with putting in a lead with one of my instruments, just to see. The version you have now is good, and very professional sounding... although, I might not be the best judge for such things. It should be kept as an alternate instrument mix. You can post it on Soundcloud if you want. I liked the guitar, and whatever imperfections are there only serve to make it sound more human and authentic. The chords are fine. It's typical of PRESENT music to have slightly different chords and progressions anyway, so it works. You said something is missing... I don't know, aside from what I already suggested. Maybe I could ask Tails. He has a keen ear for little details and melodic progressions. Since I can give him the BPM, he'll be able to add to the song as well, if he has any ideas. I haven't seen him on this board yet, either, though he did register. He's probably composing music for some contest. By the way, you may see other people popping up from time to time. I want this site to be a communal collaboration for people who want to make some cool music with me, or maybe amongst themselves, if they want. This is my intent, because I just don't like most other methods out there. E-mail gets messy, as well as chat, personal messaging, and other stuff. But a nice organized topic based system works for my mind and my busy schedule. If there is anyone you would like to invite on here, like Mr. Gasp for instance, or another particularly talented musician you know, feel free to send them... well, since I am like 30, I won't allow people under 18. Too much of a risk, (this ain't the 50's). That's a lawsuit waiting to happen in this day and age. I appreciate your willingness to collaborate in this public forum. It's been a real blast! I know it's unorthodox, and anyone is able to see our stuff and conversation, and, if registered, can participate. That could end up being a very cool thing, however. I know a lot of talented musicians. Don't worry, I will closely moderate and keep out the nasty trolls, and disrespectful individuals.

Wow, I'm really liking this Present arrangement. It sounds really pleasant ^o^ the only thing that would be 'lacking' in my opinion would be some sorta solo in 1:21 ~ 1:40, maybe a vibraphone solo (as marcb0t suggested) would be a good idea. And maybe we could fit another solo at 2:26 ~ 2:46. Maybe marcb0t could perform one of those solos, and I could perform the other one! I could do it in OpenMPT, or I could play them in a melodica! The problem is I don't have proper recording gear, but I could give it a try, who knows! My father though, has pretty good recording gear (he has a small studio!), and I could record something there. He also has a keyboard, so I could do the same for other instruments as well Once again, it's pretty good, and about the chords, I think they're mostly fine. My only complaint is that at 0:39 (when the bass is in A# (or Bb idk aaa)), they sound incoherent with the bass. Or the bass sounds incoherent with the chords, idk. You could try putting the chords 1 semitone up, just in that part, but if it doesn't sound good leave it as it is, it's not bad, it just bothers me a bit. Everything in this, is really good. I really like this, you did a very nice job at this <3 Oh by the way, Leila, do you have Skype? If you want, you can add me there! My skype name is rgcesar

Woofleila, If KamuYanu is 18 or older, then certainly yes! I read that he's an islander. So am I, and so is Tails! :-D Man you certainly have the right crew for a song like this! Well,I grew up on an island and moved north when I was 21. You can add other samples of you want, and whatever tweaks as well. I will add the new melody when I have time, and then put Tails' lovely addition I just listened to afterwards. Then we can let Kamu Yanu have a crack at it. Maybe give him the recording without the lead, too. I would check out and try Tails ideas in the posts above. He really has a good ear for these kind of things. You heard how he fixed the past tune to sound nicer. Gotta go. The Burger Barn awaits! Sent from my Prism II using Tapatalk

The .wav file has no backing, but due to poor recording quality I'd suggest you or Leila to 'cover it', if it sounds bad to you.

I've got audio scrubbing tools that are pretty good, so chances are I'll be able to salvage it. Thank you for your contribution and advice. It's always appreciated! Your dad's a musician too? That is really cool. My mom is a band teacher and is able to play like 20 different instruments. She has also played for many performances and plays in her life . Hey there! Sorry for the late reply. xD So, I got your recording, Tails! Actually, when I lay it over the song, I don't really notice any background noise or anything. It sounds perfect to me! I added a delay on it, and think it sounds pretty nice, although you can tell me what you think! (Did I put it in the right spot???) I changed the bass at that point early on in the song, too, as well as adding your solo. It sounds a lot less wonky now! I added some applause and ocean sounds too, Marcb0t! There's a little bit of vibraphone added, too, because vibraphone is pretty much the best thing ever. xD When you suggested that, I was like "OH HECK YES!!!" So, after Marc's leads, and now with Tails' solo, there was one thing left that I wanted to fidget with, and that was the rhythm instrument during the initial verse. I think I'll let Kam figure out if there's anything he'd want to put in there rhythmwise, 'cause I hit a rock wall on that one. xD I'm going to upload a version with my leads, and a version without. Also, it's awesome that both of you have musical parents!! Music is in the blood, as they say! Or ... w-well, as I say. Edit: Uploaded!

No problem about late replies haha About the bass change, I think I prefer how it was before, even though it sounded a bit odd. I dunno, both versions are nice. Well, your choice there About the ocean sounds, they could be smoother imo... I don't know, I think they're a bit loud, but the addition of them was quite nice. Also, you could make a fade-in in them in the beggining (I'd suggest 2,392 secs long). I'm unsure of how it'd sound though. About my solo, you've put it in the wrong part D= the .wav file is supposed to go on 02:23,586, with the guitar solo beggining right after, kinda like this: www.dropbox.com/s/9z6oetddhdaikoc/Captura%20de%20tela%202014-06-08%2019.55.34.pngThe idea I've had is that marcb0t would do a solo on the part you've put mine, so all of us would have some sorta solo in there. And I think the delay on my solo is a bit too loud, you could make it lower a bit (like on a 80% original / 20% delay ratio) and the milisseconds difference between the delays would be of 462ms, this would be a point that they're barely noticeable, but they MAKE a difference. That's how 'I' like delay personally, it's kinda like chiptune delays =o As for the rest of the changes (extra vibraphone, and other details I noticed but am lazy to point out), I really liked them This is just too lovely, I love this! I'm looking forward to the final version!

I got the solo moved into the right spot, and I (think I) fixed the delay! I thickened up the guitars a bit, because it was bothering me how 'thin' they were. I figure, until Marcb0t gets back, this'll be pretty much good! I had asked Kam if he wanted to add anything, but he isn't sure yet. I also quieted down the ocean! I ended up leaving the bass it was after I modded it when you mentioned how odd it sounded at first. I've ended up liking this new way better! I think it was a good suggestion. xD Either way, I think it's almost there! Just needs the Marb0t touch! It's uploaded to the Seaside Serenity folder! Left the leads in, in this version. I'll yank 'em out when Marc's back

Uhh, you still didn't put the solo in the right spot - the first 3 notes are supposed to go BEFORE the bar/measure starts. I liked the volume balancing though, both on the solo and on the ocean! Just fix that little detail, remember the mp3 I made? You could use it as reference of how it's supposed to sound: puu.sh/9iXh3/b7544a54ae.mp3 (in terms of positioning only, this has no effects at all) I also liked the change on the guitar! Also sorry for the late reply, I'm forgetting to check this D=

I didn't forget about you guys! ;~; I uploaded version 4 finally. Sorry it took so long! -Fixed the solo's positioning (is it right? I'm triple-checking! XD) -Kamu added little accents of his own, and made the horns more expressive. He also added a temporary guitar solo where Marc's'll be in the final version. I rendered it with leads, but can really easily remove them. -Beefed up the the bass... Did I go too far?

Aaaaah yes! The solo is now in the right spot! Thank you~ It sounds lovely! Also, I think I noticed most of Kamu's changes, and they do make it sound more expressive! Tell him he did a very nice job! And to create an account at this forum! It'll probably take a time for him to be approved here, though, since marcb0t is still away Also the bass (still) sounds nice I'm excited to see the outcome of this, this is sooooo lovely ;-; I used to listen to marcb0t's song on a daily basis, and this is just great! I'm really glad I'm taking part in this
