Razzle Ruins is the natural 2nd zone that was missing from the first Sonic CD. We shall make this right! So, here's what I was thinking. We could do this real moody jazzy thing kind of like Marble Zone from Sonic 1. However, it plays to the rythym of 5/4! I've never heard Sonic music that does that (to my recollection). It will have acoustic bass, piano, strings, and will sound like some interesting David Brubeck song from the 50's. So we're talking class and style here. The past will be a challenge, and I think we could do another weird time signature like 7/4, or something like that. And then the Bad Future can be in 8/6 for a more driving sound that would be new to the Sonic series. I've already started the Present mix in 5/4. My roommates first reaction was "this sounds cool". So at least I know we're of to a good start. I'll make a sample available when more progress is made.

So I found out some interesting stuff with R2 which was scrapped for Sonic CD. That's what this zone is supposed to be based on. Here are some points: 1. There is at least a rough sketch concept of the level's trope: Basically you're seeing structural arches and rainbow colored waterfalls. 2. The song called "Little Planet" in the Japanese soundtrack was said to be for R2. My guess is for the Present Arrangement. Apparently from "reliable sources". Don't know who these sources are, though. A link to that song: grooveshark.com/#!/s/Little+Planet/4NQY7M?src=5 3. There are original enemy sprite maps: 4. Which contains the claw monster from this extra scene in the original ending sequence: info.sonicretro.org/File:SCD_R2GIF.gif5. That gives us some more idea of the original scenery. So, what would you guys like. To made a Past, Good Future, and Bad Future based on the music already available. Or, would y'all like to make a brand new set of tracks for this? Either way, we could still use the sketches and animations for a little inspiration. (For reference, go to: info.sonicretro.org/R2)

If your 5/4 song already sounds awesome, what we _COULD_ do is use it for yet another new zone, and then work on alternate versions of this song for _THIS_ level... What do you think?

So guys, I was thinking of changing the name for this zone. I have some of the following ideas: Relic Razzle Rainbow Razzle Rustic Relics Rainbow Relic(s) Rainbow Ruins I want to have "Razzle" in there if possible, because I wanted to try a "Desert Dazzle" mix as well (another scrapped Sonic CD stage). So the pun is "Razzle Dazzle" My thoughts were to have the game start on the Little Planet in Desert Dazzle, then progress to the Razzle Ruins, and then Sonic gets transported to the Little Planet's moon in an alternate universe, and starts on Lunar Light Zone. But let me know which name you guys would think works better. My preference is "Rainbow Razzle" because of the pun, and because there are rainbow waterfalls in the original concept art (posted above). But Rainbow Relics would be my second favorite, because it still flows good, and describes the trope well.

That sounds like a good suggestion. Maybe an alternate version could be the Spencer Nilson interpretation of the Present, and could build on that. And what if Spencer Nisen made the Past music? How would such a thing sound? That could be an idea to play with in the future, maybe for this track! I want the PAST to be 7/4 time signature if possible. 7 being the primary colors in the rainbow, rhythmically relating to the zone's rainbow waterfalls. It would be unique for a chiptune or Sonic music for that matter.
